When your organization uses two-factor verification, you can set up your work or school account to use the Microsoft Authenticator app as one of the verification methods.
This is how you can do it.
While setting up your account for the first time, you will see a 'More information required' page, click 'Next'.
You will be moved to a 'Keep your account secure'
while on this screen, please download 'Microsoft Authenticator' app on your handheld device (from Google play store (Android) or App store (iPhone))
Once the app is downloaded on the phone.
click 'Next', then click 'Next' again (On the computer screen).
On the next screen, you will see a code to scan.
At this point, go to the Authenticator app on the phone.
Click on, 'Add a new account'.
then select 'work or school account'
then select, Scan a QR code.
It will open the camera on the phone, for you to scan the code on the laptop screen.
Scan the code.
Once the code is scanned, click 'Next'.
On the next screen, you will get a prompt, Lets try it out.
It will send you a notification on your phone to be approve.
Approve the notification, once done on the screen it will say 'Notification Approved'
Click 'Next'.
Next step, is adding a phone number, please add a number and click 'Next'
Once done, it will send you a text with a 6 digit code, enter the code for verification.
Once done, You will see a screen saying, Congratulations, you have successfully added the security information.
Click, Done
Note: If you have set up the Microsoft Authenticator app on five different devices or if you've used five hardware tokens, you won't be able to set up a sixth one, and you might see the following error message: You can't set up Microsoft Authenticator because you already have five authenticator apps or hardware tokens. Please contact your administrator to delete one of your authenticator apps or hardware tokens.
