Users may encounter situations where certain login options are missing from the sign-in screen, causing inconvenience. This article aims to guide users and administrators through the steps to restore missing login options on Windows devices.
When users are unable to see alternative login options on their Windows sign-in screen, it can be attributed to system settings that restrict access to those options. This limitation might be intentional or accidental, but it can be resolved with a few simple steps.
Group Policy Editor (Windows Pro or Enterprise):
- Press Win + R, type gpedit.msc and hit Enter.
- Navigate to Computer Configuration > Windows Settings > Security Settings > Local Policies > Security Options.
- Locate the policy named Interactive Login: Don’t display last signed-in policy and double-click it.
- Set the policy to "Enable" and click "OK".
Registry Editor (All Windows Editions):
* Remember to always backup your Windows Registry before making any changes.
- Press Win + R, type regedit, and hit Enter.
- Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System.
- Look for a DWORD value named HideFastUserSwitching. If absent, create it:
- Right-click in the right pane, choose New > DWORD (32-bit) Value, and name it HideFastUserSwitching.
- Double-click HideFastUserSwitching and set its value to 0, then click "OK".
After making changes through Group Policy Editor or Registry Editor, restart the device for the adjustments to take effect.
