Microsoft Teams meeting recordings are stored in OneDrive or SharePoint, depending on the meeting type:
Standard meetings- saved to the organizer’s OneDrive.
Channel meetings- saved to the Team’s SharePoint site under the Files tab.
Play a meeting recording in Teams
You can access the recording from:
- Meeting chat: Go to Chat, open the meeting thread, and click the recording thumbnail.
- Teams calendar: Open the past meeting, go to the Recap tab, and click Play.
- Channel Files tab: For channel meetings, go to Teams Channel Files and open the recording (.mp4 file).
How to Share a Recording
Recordings are stored as regular files, so you can share them like any OneDrive or SharePoint file:
- Open the recording in OneDrive or SharePoint.
- Click Share, choose access permissions, and copy the link.
- Paste the link in Teams, email, or any other platform.
Please note: Only the meeting organizer or file owner can manage sharing permissions. |
Managing Access and Expiry
- You can adjust view/edit permissions directly from the file’s Share settings.
- Recordings may expire based on your organization’s retention policy. Organizers can extend or remove expiration dates.
