Get Started With Keeper

Overview: 

This article provides end users with step-by-step guidance to get started with Keeper Password Manager, including how to securely store, manage, and access passwords within the Keeper Vault. As part of this setup, Keeper replaces your browser’s built-in password manager to provide an additional layer of security and better protection for your credentials.

1. Open the Keeper invitation email (or navigate to your organization’s Keeper Vault URL).

2. Sign in using your company credentials or follow the invitation steps.

3. Enable 2FA: Click the Account Dropdown Menu (your email address) then click Settings > Security to enable 2FA for your vault. 

4. Select the authenticator app, scan the QR code using the Microsoft Authenticator app, enter the code, and click next. Keeper will show you a list of backup codes in case you are unable to use the selected authenticator app.

Importing Passwords

1. To import passwords from your web browser, you must first install the Keeper Import Tool. To begin the installation, from the Account Dropdown Menu, click Settings > Import > Import (next to "From a Browser") > Install.

2. Run the .exe file downloaded, copy and paste the code into the Keeper Importer screen when prompted.

3. Click on Add to Keeper.

In order for Keeper to be visible in your toolbar at all times, click on the extensions puzzle icon then click on the Pin icon next to Keeper Password Manager to "Show in Toolbar".
