Recording meetings in Teams is a great way to capture audio, video, and screen sharing for future reference. Recordings are now saved to OneDrive or SharePoint, depending on the meeting type:
- Standard meetings → saved to the organizer’s OneDrive.
- Channel meetings → saved to the Team’s SharePoint site.
How to Start and Stop a Recording
- Join or start the meeting.
- In the meeting controls, click More options (⋯) > Start recording.
- Teams will notify all participants that recording has started.
To stop recording, go to More options > Stop recording.
Who Can Record
To start or stop a recording, users must:
- Be part of the same organization (not a guest or external user)
- Have a supported Microsoft 365 license (e.g., E1, E3, E5, A3, A5, Business Premium)
- Be allowed by admin policies to record meetings.
Please note: Recordings continue even if the person who started it leaves the meeting. They stop automatically when everyone exits or after 4 hours of inactivity. |
Privacy Reminder
Teams displays a recording notification to all participants across desktop, web, mobile, and dial-in. Be sure to follow company policies regarding consent before recording.
